Learning To Fly

Many of the birds that come into our care are too young to fly. Once their flight feathers begin to form, we gently encourage them to exercise their wings in preparation for flight. Sometimes, we place them on our outstretched arms and, as we slowly raise and lower them, they begin to find their balance and discover the quiet power held within their wings.

This tender ritual can take days or even weeks. With each movement, their confidence builds—until one day, with a sudden spark of courage, they launch themselves into the air for their very first flight. It is a moment of quiet triumph, as they lift into the sky on wings they've only just begun to trust.
